First Time to Napa Valley Itinerary
For anyone's first trip to Napa Valley the choices can be a little overwhelming. Here are some wineries we recommend to give a variety of unique experiences, and will be a good introduction to the area and to wine making. Use this itinerary as a starting point to build upon.
1. Del Dotto Vineyards
Well known for its hospitality Del Dotto has some great 120 year old winery caves. Take a lengthy informational tour that explains how wine barrels and barrel making affects the wine making process, and they are also very liberal with tastings.
2. Robert Mondavi Winery
One of the most well known wineries in Napa Valley, Robert Mondavi's tours provide a wealth of information about wine making and a great overview of the surrounding area. Great for the first time visitor of Napa Valley.
3. Peju
Having a much different feel then the larger wineries like Mondavi, Peju is a smaller family run French style winery with astoundingly beautiful grounds. Becoming increasing popular Peju can be crowded.
4. Beringer Vineyards
Beringer is another of the large wineries and has a lot of history in Napa Valley. The tour guides are well educated and the staff will do a great job helping you fine tune your palate.
5. Frank Family Vineyards
Quickly becoming known as the place to go, tasting at Frank Family Vineyards is welcoming, educational, and entertaining. Every tasting starts with some of the estate sparkling wines before tasting their still wines.
6. Schramsberg Vineyards
Schramsberg is one of the best known sparkling wine or champagne wineries in Napa Valley. With a history dating back to 1862 Schramsberg has a wealth of history and it some really amazing caves!
7. Clos Pegase Winery
Almost of all the Napa Valley wineries founders have multiple passions besides wine, at Clos Pegase the founders' interest is art. With a great art collection and beautiful caves, Clos Pegase is a unique experience that is only found in Napa Valley.
