Also off of the Silverado Trail is the world famous Mumm. Known mostly for their sparkling wine, Mumm should be a stop for those who enjoy a little fizzy in their life. They offer a 45 minute tour periodically through the day which takes you through the history of Mumm and the numerous varieties of wine that they produce there. The tour takes you through their entire process of production but the down side is that you don't get to see all the stages since it such a long process that is done over weeks and months. For this reason Mumm has set up five minute videos that allow their guests a better understanding of the process when you can't see it going on for one reason or another. It's a great visual to supplement the tour. The cool thing about their facility is their robot BOB. BOB helps with the process of bottling and storing the wines, and is just plain cool to watch since it's the only vineyard in Napa that utilizes this sort of technology.
After the tour you are led into an art exhibit with a permanent collection of Ansel Adams prints. Follow the path down the hall past all the art and you will find your self in the tasting room and store. The tasting room is more like a tasting restaurant where you sit down at a table and can choose to try their wines by the glass or try a variety of three to five smaller glasses for 10-30 dollars. After you're finished enjoying the view with your sparkling wine and if you've gone on the tour there is a token that you will receive that will get you 15% off in the gift shop, so wait till the end to do your shopping. Good
We found that the server kept trying to push the "wine club" membership" after every sip of wine.
We enjoyed the art show and the outdoor restaurant type tasting area. While not a fan of sparkling white wines, our guests were thrilled.

If you want a dazzling array of choices in sparkling wine flavors, Mumm is the place to go! I have been a fan of this winery for almost 10 years now and I have always brought many friends and family along with me on my almost monthly wine tours through Napa. Every single one of them, even the die-hard beer guzzling wine-haters have found something they truly enjoy at Mumm.
I joined the wine club and in my opinion, it's one of the best in the valley. Every two months, a set of 2 wines are sent to me along with a nice gift selected from the Mumm gift shop. If I do not want a particular type of wine, Mumm is more than happy to swap it with one I do like. If I don't want a particular shipment, they have no problem removing the charges for that month's shipment.
In all, my experience with Mumm is they have friendly, knowledgable staff who provide service with a smile, a wonderful selection of sparkling wines to choose from, an excellent club membership program (with bi-monthly special events with food and wine for members only) a nice outdoor or indoor tasting set up (either with gorgeous views) and a cool gift shop.
Oh, and for the designated driver? Mumm has complimentary bottled water or sparkling flavored water for them.

home page that will show the prints you have on the walls for the showing...there are two prints by a lady on the right side as you walk into the hall...of tree in swamp. I would like to view two of them and know the artist....

My boyfriend and I enjoyed a drink on the lovely indoor terrace overlooking the Mumm vineyard. He had the Brut Reserve, which he said was very good, and being that I was the designated driver, the server brought out a complimentary non-alcoholic Chardonnay (fruit juice) for me. The staff was knowledgeable and friend, the environment comfortable and relax. A recommended destination for lovers of sparkling wines.
