In 1998 The Silverado Trail welcomed a truly innovative and inspiring vineyard to the block with Miner Family Vineyards. Dave Miner, his wife Emily, and family started their vineyard with the intention of being true to the varietals with an old school approach. Old school however does not mean old and boring. Miner brings more variety than the average vineyard in the valley, and they also make sure that every wine is made with a lot of fun. With 20 different wines that go beyond the usual suspects of the Chardonnay or the Cabernet Sauvignon. A visit here will never be bland or boring.Grounds
The tasting room is situated on the second floor of their winery building. As you walk up to the stairs to the tasting room, or take the elevator if you need it, you are greeted with a small picnic patio with gorgeous views of the valley. Just beyond the door is the tasting room that is light and airy with warm wood floors and an inviting tasting bar. This tasting room is set up to be inviting and not intimidating.Tasting Room
The tasting bar can be crowded on the weekends but be patient; you will be rewarded. They also have a back up tasting bar to help with overflow and are in the process of adding a third tasting bar to help provide the best experience for every visitor. Behind the bar are friendly faces that are ready and willing to greet and serve the current release menu. What's special too about this tasting experience is that they serve each wine in the correct varietals' glass. So don't be surprised if they are switching the glasses up too 2-3 times as they guide you through the menu. Also don't be surprised if you try something not on the menu. A good host can become so enthusiastic that they cannot help but want to share something more with you that aren't on the menu.Staff
The staff at Miner were also extremely helpful during our visit, so feel free to ask questions about the winery, the wines, or general questions about the area. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the owner, Dave Miner, was actually hanging out behind the tasting bar answering guests' questions. This shows a true dedication not only to the production end of the winery but also to the experience of each visitor who visits. You can always tell when a host is truly passionate about the wine, and Miner's hosts were very passionate and excited about the wines that they are sharing. Our experience at Miner Family Vineyards was truly a wonderful experience and is recommended to all who take a trip to Napa.
